Entry rules
Hyparmuse Design Award is organized by Hyparmuse. These rules cover submission, verification, judging, award confirmation and public display. Submission availability, deadlines and related notices follow the information published on the website.
Eligibility to submit and accurate information
Work is submitted by its creator, creative team or an authorized representative. The submitter must hold the permissions required to use, submit and display the work and supporting materials, and accurately state credits, team responsibilities, project stage and evidence of outcomes. Impersonation, plagiarism, fabricated materials and concealment of information relevant to assessment are not acceptable.
Disciplines and project stage
The eight disciplines are Product Design, Architecture, Interior & Spatial Design, Visual Communication, Packaging Design, Digital & Interaction Design, Fashion & Accessories, and Service & System Design. Each entry selects the main discipline that best represents its central contribution. Work is identified as a concept, prototype or completed project according to its actual status. Design intentions, experimental findings and achieved results must be clearly distinguished.
Submission materials
Provide the title, creator or team credit, main discipline, project stage and description. Project location is optional. The description contains 80–6,000 characters and explains the context, central idea, process and evidence of results. Supply 1–8 JPG, PNG or WebP images, up to 10 MB each, and optionally one PDF up to 20 MB. Identify third-party images, fonts, marks and other materials and obtain the necessary permissions. Obtain appropriate authorization before submitting client, partner or confidential project information.
Fees and submission records
Submission is currently free. Saved drafts remain editable. Confirmed submission creates an account receipt containing the entry ID, timestamp, version and file list. Receipts are viewed and downloaded in the account rather than emailed. Successful submission records the materials; it does not establish eligibility, selection, an award or publication. Any subsequent fee change is announced in advance and does not retrospectively alter fee records in existing receipts.
Verification and additional materials
The platform checks completeness, credits, permissions and project statements, and may request further information. Submitted versions are locked by default. A request for additional materials permits the submitter to revise statements, replace files and resubmit for verification. Original receipts and files are retained. Updates are completed before review assignment; work already under review or with a decision cannot directly replace its reviewed materials. Entries that fail material requirements or present authenticity or rights disputes do not proceed to further assessment or publication.
Assessment period
Assessment is completed within 15 days after the edition deadline. Results are published separately after verification and confirmation; the assessment period does not automatically publish unverified decisions.
Judging principles
Material checks, professional review, decision confirmation and publication are separate. Assigned jurors review work independently using the complete dossier, actual project maturity and verifiable evidence. Assessment considers the design problem and context, creative and innovative value, design resolution and supporting evidence, and usefulness and responsibility. Concepts, prototypes and completed projects are assessed in relation to their stages; unverified expected effects are not treated as achieved results. Specific dimensions, scores and edition arrangements follow the published judging standards.
Independence, recusal and confidentiality
Jurors disclose professional, financial or personal relationships with projects, creators or related organizations that could affect independent judgment. A conflict requires recusal rather than scoring the relevant entry. The review workspace hides account and creator fields; submitters should check identifying information embedded in images or documents. Jurors must not distribute unpublished materials, disclose review opinions without authorization or use materials for purposes outside assessment.
Awards and limits
Each edition has 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze places, with no more than 10 awarded projects in total. Limits apply across the edition rather than being repeated for each discipline. An award in every discipline is not guaranteed. Awards follow assessment quality; places may remain unfilled and standards are not lowered to fill available places. Gold, Silver and Bronze are awarded within their respective limits.
Decision confirmation and display
After assessment, the platform verifies project information, credits and review records before confirming decisions. Publication requires verification, a confirmed selection or award and the submitter's publication consent. Public titles, credits, images and summaries are checked before display. Reference projects and their source information on this website do not constitute Hyparmuse submissions, selections or award records.
Intellectual property and publication permission
Rights in the work and original materials remain with their respective rights holders. Submission does not transfer copyright. Public display requires separate permission covering the confirmed project display and award information. Commercial or other use outside that scope requires additional permission. Submission alone never automatically publishes materials without consent. Materials without publication permission are used only for submission handling, assessment and verification.
Opening, deadline and time display
Administrators manually open submissions; an opening date does not enable submissions automatically. The published deadline and display timezone determine the cutoff, with remaining time shown in the footer. At the deadline, first submissions and supplemental submissions are no longer accepted. Previously saved drafts, materials, receipts and records remain accessible. Submitters should allow time for uploading and checking; an unconfirmed draft is not treated as a completed submission.
Communication, withdrawal and data requests
Requests for additional information, progress notes and replies are handled through account messages. Submitters may use account messages to request withdrawal or action concerning their materials or account. The platform verifies the requester and relevant records before handling the request. Changes involving public display also require checking publication permission. Data processing and retention follow the website privacy policy and relevant notices.
Updates to the rules
Supplementary arrangements concerning an edition's submissions, assessment and publication are announced on the website. Significant changes affecting entrants identify their scope and timing and do not silently alter existing submission records. Submitters should check these rules, edition notices and project materials before confirming submission and continue to monitor account messages.
